Does Your Liver Need Some Love?
Our liver is an amazing organ which plays a HUGE role in our daily energy, mood, disease prevention, hormone balance & our ability to use body fat as a fuel.
It’s the second largest organ after our skin and is responsible for so many crucial processes…
- It receives & alters unwanted substances so they can be safely excreted from the body instead of accumulating.
- It directs nutrients in our blood (from the foods we consume) to the most in need body systems and functions at that particular time.
It’s role in our body is mind blowing and it truely deserves our love and attention!
Unfortunately, our modern diet is often too high in processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, sugar, medications/drugs, pesticides and too low in nutrients. This can cause our liver to become overwhelmed with its looong to-do list. Substances cannot effectively clear or detox via the liver when it is under this constant pressure. These substances therefore have to be recycled or stored, often as toxic substances in our fatty tissue.
I see the symptoms of an overwhelmed liver frequently clients, many who have experienced them for years! YOUR liver may need some loving if you experience…
1) Water retention / cellulite
- due to toxic substances not able to be cleared by the liver so the body holds onto extra water to dilute these and stores them in our fatty tissue (usually bum and thighs).
2) Breakouts / Skin congestion
- our skin is our next excretion pathway for unwanted substances after our urinary and digestive systems so a build up of toxic substances may need to exit via your skin causing breakouts, redness & inflammation
3) Waking in the middle of the night feeling unusually hot, PMS symptoms or tender/lumpy breasts.
-associated with excess estrogen having trouble being excreted via the liver
4) More irritable than normal
5) Not hungry for breakfast but often get suddenly really hungry throughout the day
6) Poor energy
7) Stubborn weight that won’t easily shift
Whether you experience one or a number of these symptoms, it can really start to impact on your daily quality of life.
However, if you begin to show your liver some love and support, you could drastically change how you feel and function on a daily basis!
